The CEO Of Snapchat Just Called India 'A Poor Country'; This Is How Indians Gave It Back To Him In His Face!
After the CEO of photo-sharing app Snapchat said that the app
is only for rich countries and he does not want to expand it to poor
countries like India and Spain, #Snapchat and #boycottsnapchat has
suddenly started to trend on Twitter. The 26-year-old Evan Spiegal is
suddenly in the receiving end of the ire of the Twitteratis and Indians
are in no mood to spare him.
The comments of
Spiegal (that are still unverified) were published in a report about a
lawsuit filed by a former employee of the company. The ex-employee
Anthony Pompliano claimed that Spiegal has once said that he doesn’t
want to expand the app in ‘poor’ countries like India. The comment did
not go down well with Indians back home and they have started a campaign
to troll, slam and boycott the CEO and the company on various social
media platforms.
The company responded by saying,
“This is ridiculous. Snapchat is for everyone. It’s available worldwide
to download for free” but the comments of Spiegal are yet to be
verified. In the meantime, for the knowledge of the company and its CEO,
Snapchat has around 4 million users from the poor country India alone.
