The ‘Dirty’ Side Of T20 Tournament's Late-Night Parties That Awoke Several Controversies Over The Years
The Twenty20 tournament has completed 9 glorious years. Marking
a decade of adrenaline-filled games, and the 10th edition has commenced
on the 5th of April.
Apart from the reformed
T20 matches that were introduced in the tournament, the league also
witnessed the combination of glamour and sports for the very first time.
Right from well-known personalities and Bollywood celebrities owning
various teams, to the introduction of cheerleaders; the event became a
trend-setter in the world of cricket.
But with the
rising scandals, controversies and match-fixing, the league made
several changes under operation ‘Clean-Up’. The late-night parties that
were a part of every post-match until the year 2013, were banned
forever.
The parties that witnessed the presence
of several cheerleaders and celebrities from the glamour industry could
no longer be a part of the series glamorous nights. As of now,
post-match parties will just include get-togethers, with an entry
allowed to just cricketers and team management.
